5 Small (But Not-So-Obvious) Tips for Kickoff Tactics

This article isn’t a guide on how to dominate the opposition – there’ll be plenty of those to come. Instead, these are five small, perhaps overlooked tips to help you maximise your experience and resources as you find your feet in Kickoff Tactics.

#1: Complete Your Daily Missions

Daily missions reward you with a small amount of Gold for completing various in-game objectives (Play 5 Midfielders, Score 5 Goals in a match, Upgrade Cards, and so on). Once completed, each mission frees up a slot that generates a new one at the next 2-hour deadline.

Most missions are straightforward and achievable through normal gameplay. Others, however, can be challenging or counter-productive depending on your preferred deck style – Base Card missions are a good example if you run a predominantly Move-theme deck. In these cases, it’s worth keeping a simple secondary deck on hand purely to knock out those awkward objectives.

Yes, it’ll probably be a weak deck – otherwise you’d already be playing it. And yes, you might drop a trophy or two in the process. But that’s a trade worth making. Clearing the slot frees it up for a more favourable mission down the line, and the Gold adds up over time.

Bonus Tip: You can work towards your missions simultaneously, so if you’re able to build up a stack of 6 and complete them all in the same time frame, then it’s very time-efficient to do so!

#2: Earn All Four of Your Daily Victory Packs

Kickoff Tactics rewards your first four wins of each day with a Victory Pack – a small bundle of Cash, Gold, cards, and/or card duplicates. They’re modest individually, but over the course of a week they represent a meaningful chunk of free resources.

Make it a habit to get those four wins in every day. You don’t need to play marathon sessions – just enough to claim what the game is already offering you.

#3: Use Cash to Buy Gold (to Upgrade Your Cards)

To get the best cards in Kickoff Tactics, you need to progress along the Collection Track. To do that, you need to upgrade your cards whenever you have the right number of duplicates. And the most common bottleneck? Not having enough Gold to do it.

This is where Cash comes in. At present, the best use of Cash in Kickoff Tactics is simply to convert it into Gold. The 1,000 Gold bundle for 540 Cash offers the best value, providing an 11% bonus over smaller purchases. If your Cash balance is sitting idle, put it to work here – it’ll keep your Collection Track moving and unlock better cards faster.

#4: Rush If You’re Heading for a Draw

You’re coming into the second half. That 2-1 lead you built in the first has evaporated, and the scores are looking like they’re heading level. You fancy holding one lane for the equaliser, but winning the match feels out of reach. Sound familiar?

Rush anyway. In the event of a draw, Trophies are split evenly between both players, meaning you can both walk away with 4 Trophies rather than the 1 you’d each receive from a straightforward loss. If your opponent has the same read on the situation, you both benefit.

Bonus tip: Use the in-game “Rush?” emote to signal your intentions. It’s a small gesture, but surprisingly effective, even against opponents you can’t communicate with directly. If they’re paying attention, they’ll understand immediately, and you can both maximise the Trophy haul without a word being exchanged. I tested this just recently and it worked a treat.

#5: Don’t Neglect the Early Game

It’s tempting to build your deck around your most powerful, expensive cards and play the long game, saving yourself for a dominant second half. It’s an understandable instinct, but it’s one of the most common mistakes you’ll see in Kickoff Tactics.

Here’s the thing: first half goals count exactly as much as second half goals. If you can take two zones at half-time, you only need to hold one in the second half to guarantee at least a draw – and with Rush, even a draw can be profitable.

Make sure your deck can genuinely contest lanes in the early rounds, not just the later ones. A well-balanced squad that competes from Round 1 gives you options, pressure, and, more often than not, a comfortable half-time Rush decision to boot.
